Tea Review : Milk Oolong

Supplier: Republic Of Tea

Commercial Information:
Cup of Abundance - This delightful, hand-processed green oolong is grown high in the Fujian mountains in China. Famous for its “milky” taste and silky texture, the large, tightly-rolled leaves have the alluring fragrance of sweet cream and pineapple. The flavor is smooth with light, orchid notes. Great for multiple infusions.

My Review:
I have found that from different suppliers this tea can have drastic differences. The milkiness or soothing effect this tea has varies based on supply and distributor. The Republic of Tea Milk Oolong while delicious is actually best on its second and third steep. The leaves seem to be slightly resistant to water at fist and take a much longer time to fully bloom than other milk oolongs i have had. Which deceivingly makes the first brew very weak, but once the leaves are opened up, in comes the flavor train.

It has some very floral notes and while it was poised to become my all time favorite oolong it still lacks the consistency in brewing that Mr. Wuyi Oolong provides. However this tea is delicious and inexpensive compared to other distributors, and would be enjoyable every sip of the way. Just remember to go for a first long steep or down that cup and go back for another, for full flavor.
